This initiative—alongside standardized brand fonts and more extensive health warning labeling—is all part of the EU Tobacco Products Directive (TPD). The directive, which came into effect in May of last year, is a part of the TPD's aim to further reduce tobacco consumption across EU member states, thereby cutting down on those combustion-related diseases that we are forever reminded of on our cigarette boxes.
